Edgegap on a Nascar race car!

We were sponsoring an official Nascar PINTY racecar over the week-end. The driver, Jocelyn Fecteau #77, could be seen on live national TV. We’ve posted below his virtual racecar with our logo, good job Jocelyn!

I’m told lag and fairness is important in those races, will the market start listening? 🙂

Edgegap selected to prepare & support MEC plugtest at ETSI

Again in 2020, Edgegap has been selected to prepare and support the upcoming NFV & MEC Plugtests (Multi-Access Edge Computing) at ETSI in the upcoming few months. We are working with ETSI and the various vendors involved in the Plugtests to develop the test plan for MEC interoperability. As leader in edge computing industry, Edgegap provides their expertise to share the tests and provide support through interop events between vendors. We are proud to support such project and encourage NFV and Edge vendors to participate. To join the plugtest you can follow the url below and register:

Why lag is so critical for eSports?

Our CEO was invited to take part in eSports BAR in Cannes this week and talk about why lower lag and guaranteed latency can be so important for tournaments where providing an equivalent chance of winning to everyone is key.

Edge Computing needs game-centric solutions

We were invited to present at Global Edge Congress in Austin Texas this week. Our CEO talked about how Edgegap is working with gaming studios to leverage edge computing infrastructures and provide unique services with a unique goal in mind: improve player’s experience.

We got to cover a few topics, including cloud gaming and why lag will not go away. Edgegap is featured in the congress magazine, thanks for BroadGroup for doing such and setting up this great event.

Upcoming shows & live demos!

We are thrilled to announce that Hewlett Packard Enterprise is planning to demo our software, Arbitrium, integrated with HPE Service Director during the following events! Check with us, service providers may be able to get a live demo on how they can monetize their infrastructures through edge computing use cases! Let us know if you are planning to attend, we will be glad to book a private session!

Edgegap and Rafay Systems Joins Forces to Reduce Latency & Improve Performance for Online Gamers

Joint Solution to be Demonstrated at Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona
For online gamers, the most agonizing experience is not when they face certain annihilation by their fiercest opponent. Nope, not even close. It turns out the most terrifying moment for an online gamer is when online play slows down, lags or abruptly stops.
Fast performance is a top priority for gamers, according to a global survey conducted by Limelight Networks. In their State of Online Gaming Report 2018, survey respondents reported that games that load and play quickly are the highest consideration.

To address this challenge, two innovative companies have joined forces to vastly improve the online gaming experience. Edgegap (edgegap.com) and Rafay Systems (rafay.co) will be demonstrating this breakthrough capability at Mobile World Congress 2019, February 25 – 28 in Barcelona.

Edgegap’s Arbitrium allows gaming studios to automate the decision-making process and deployment of their gaming servers throughout hundreds of data centers. Edgegap receives requests from gaming studios matchmakers and determines the best server locations within Rafay’s Container Deliver Network based on the end users’ location. The result is gaming applications running closer to their players.
Players will enjoy vastly improved online experiences compared to using the public cloud. In addition, cost savings are realized by only running games when and where there is actual user demand.
About EdgegapEdgegap is a software startup based in Montreal, Canada, which specializes in software development for edge and cloud computing. To find out more about Edgegap and Arbitrium, visit edgegap.com.
